Pintada Vulturina

Project type

Merino & Bergschaf wool sculpture

Date

October 2026

Location

Montreal, Canada

The cascading plummage of the vulturine guinea fowl (Acryllium vulturinum) from north east Africa is strikingly contrasted with its bald, austere head and neck. Its raw primitive energy is tempered by elegant yet whimsical feathers, uncomfortably forcing the acknowledgement of multiple visual truths.
The regal poultry has drawn comparisons to bankers, having a formal pin-stripped suit and serious expression. The financial analogy easily scales up to Vulture Funds, international mechanisms of neo-colonial wealth extraction from vulnerable nations, and the reputable institutions in the global north who launder and beautify the funds' personas.
