When felting these gloves I was reminded of a quote by Audrey Hepburn. "As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others."
I interpret her quote, not merely as a directive for self care and philanthropy, but as also a reflection on the delicate balance of life's processes and our human interactions. Spanning across scales, from cellular biology to ecosystems, and from personal relationships to politics, there is always the dynamic interplay of competition and cooperation. Neither mutually exclusive, nor antonyms, these concepts shape our lives and interactions on all levels.
The two arms of this work reflect a search for grace, during the competition and cooperation of our daily interactions.
